One day while I was traveling on the interstate, the Lord opened my understanding to the story of Judas. He showed me that Judas was the key to understanding endtime prophecy concerning the reign of the Antichrist. I instantly saw a flash of a temple in my mind, and I knew immediately God was comparing the temple to himself. In John 2:19, Jesus stated, “DESTROY THIS TEMPLE, and in three days I will raise it up.” Jesus Christ called himself a temple, and He was the temple of God. *Judas sold out Jesus, and the type and shadow of this is the Antichrist will sell out their “temple.” Once the story of Judas’ life has been explored, you will have a greater understanding of the future events that are about to occur.
Studying the story, we first notice that Judas was a Jew. He was not just any Jew; he was a greedy Jewish thief who held a position as the treasurer. Jesus himself had handpicked Judas to follow him and gave him control over the moneys that supplied their needs. Certainly Judas, with such a prominent position, would never betray Jesus or his followers. He appeared to be their friend. The apostles had no idea he would betray them, yet Jesus, sitting at a table with his apostles said, “one of you shall betray me” (John 13:21). Entered by Satan, Judas had already gone to the chief priests and captains to betray Jesus. He had made a covenant with them and promised to deliver Jesus for money, thirty pieces of silver. Likewise, the Prime Minister of Israel “holds the bag.” At the head of the table, he will represent all power and authority. His country, like the apostles, will trust in him to meet their needs, especially financial ones. The Jewish people will not even see the betrayal coming. Who would expect their prime minister to betray one’s own country? Under the influence of Satan, he too will sit at a table and his heart, like Judas’, will be to do mischief. He, too, will promise to turn over the temple at the opportune time. Daniel 11:27, 28 informs us of this: “(v. 27) And both these kings’ hearts shall be to do mischief, and they shall speak lies at one table [he strikes a deal turning over the temple]; but it shall not prosper [as with Judas, it won’t pay off]: for yet the end shall be at the time appointed. [Note: the next line confirms a deal was made.] (v. 28) Then shall he return into his land with great riches.”
The Israelis will believe Netanyahu is acting in their own best interest. They will not understand what is taking place. Remember Peter wanted to know who the betrayer was, and Jesus replied, “He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it” (John 13:26). He then dipped the sop, gave it to Judas, and said, “That thou doest, do quickly” (John 13:27).
That thou doest, do quickly. These are powerful words, for Judas, now having received the sop from Jesus, immediately left the table and went into the night. Judas had crossed over the line to receive power from the darkness that is from Satan. Recall Da. 11:30 pgs. 45-46 Judas Iscariot returned as the “guide” to a band of people. This multitude that followed Judas felt they needed to carry swords and staves in order to take Jesus Christ, the temple of God.
The following verses will illustrate Judas’ past being performed once again in the future. Remember Daniel 11 is futuristic. Daniel 11:30-31 explains the situation:
. . . (v. 30) therefore he [the Antichrist] shall be grieved, and return [or turn away (1)], and have indignation against the holy covenant: so shall he do [what did Jesus say to Judas, “That thou doest, do quickly”]; he shall even return [like Judas with the Jews], and have intelligence with them that forsake the holy covenant. (v. 31) And arms [Roman power] shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength [meaning the temple, which is symbolic for Jesus Christ], and shall take away the daily sacrifice.
In II Thessalonians, the Antichrist sits in the temple of God claiming to be God. The Antichrist, like Judas, will be the “guide” to them that take the temple of God. This is history repeating itself.
Luke, in Acts 1:16 confirms the above:
Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.
Acts 1:16 here refers us to the Psalm of David 109:6-8, which speaks of Judas:
Set thou a wicked man over him: and let Satan stand at his right hand [or be his power] . . . let him be condemned . . . Let his days be few; and let another take his office [or have the charge (2)].
“Let another take his office,” these are strong, very meaningful words, and there are a couple of ways to interpret what is meant here. Acts 1:16, refers to the Psalm of David, that states, “Let another take his office,” and ties it together with the fact that Judas was “guide” to them that took Jesus, the temple of God.
Judas was the guide. Jesus was the temple of God. Another will take Judas’ office, the Antichrist, as the guide of an army that will desecrate the temple of God (II Thess. 2:4, Da. 11:31). Like Judas, he will “have the charge” over a multitude of people, and with him as their leader they will take the temple of God. Some of you might say, “Well, another taking his office refers to Mathias taking over his apostleship.” This is true. However, God’s Word is not simplistic; it is revelatory. There is usually always a deeper meaning than what may be our initial understanding. Judas was a betrayer, and he played two roles! To one he was an apostle, and to the other he was a guide.
Judas was titled the son of perdition. There is only one other person in the whole entire Bible with this same title, and that is the Antichrist. Think about that! Every word God speaks is for a reason. These two men have the same title, and this is powerful! Why does the Word of God call both of these men the son of perdition? It is because Judas’ past is the key to the Antichrist’s future!
